I was inspired to capture an up close moment of the sunlight kissing the blossoms of a flowering gum tree. I had fun playing around with light and shadow to help render the subject, using a thick impasto style of painting combined with impressionistic marks and many layers of light glazing to enhance certain features within the piece.
